Trigger Point Dry Needling (TPDN) is a technique used to help treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. TPDN uses a very thin, sterile needle to cause a minor injury at the site of pain, signalling ‘injury’ to the brain and subsequently triggering a healing response. Needling into a trigger point or ‘knot’ provokes a twitch response which triggers a contraction and relaxation response of the muscle. TPDN reduces pain/tightness, improves tissue healing, restores normal tissue function, reduces inflammation, improves circulation and helps increase range of motion.
At Yea Podiatry Clinic TPDN is performed by Erin Papadopoulos who has undertaken further training in this area.
